Prague authorities are considering the possibility of extending area covered by the annual travel pass according to the deputy mayor of Prague Petr Dolinek.

According to him, the main objective of this initiative – is to motivate motorists to abandon cars in favor of buses and trains, which should improve the environmental and transport situation.

Today, the cost of yearly travel in Prague is 3,650 CZK and is valid only within the city limits. Residents of the neighboring districts of Prague-West and Prague-East have to buy extra tickets when traveling to and from the capital.

Prague authorities have instructed ROPID, which is involved in the organization of public transport, to carry out a detailed study of this issue. The analysis should show, how many drivers are potentially willing to give up their cars, and how expensive the initiative will cost the city budget.
