For the first time in 16 years, the babies by the Czech sculptor and artist David Černý will be removed from the Žižkov TV tower. They need to be inspected and renovated for safety.
This was announced by the director of the company Martin Gebauer. Since 2001, the Žižkov Tower is decorated with ten giant black babies crawling up and down the tower. The fiberglass sculptures called Miminka (Babies) were originally placed there only temporarily, but they became so popular that they were permanently installed on the tower.
To take a closer look at the babies, you can find three of them in Prague’s Kampa Park, with the only difference being that the material used is bronze.
