Czech police have arrested one of the Calabrian mafia bosses, Francesco Bonavita. The detained man is a 69-year-old important member of a criminal organisation who is wanted by Italy.
Bonavita had lived in the Czech Republic for several months under a false name.
In Italy, he faces a prison sentence of up to 26 years and he’s suspected of criminal conspiration and of being behind a number of dubious deals.
The suspect was reportedly arrested a few days ago in Prague’s north-western Dejvice district and is now awaiting a decision on extradition.
