Data from the Czech Statistical Office (CZSO) shows the number of inhabitants in Prague increased to more than 1.3 million in the first half of 2017. The majority of new inhabitants immigrated from areas surrounding Prague.
The capital’s population has increased due also to the number of births this year. In Prague 6,213 was the mortality rate, while 7,354 births were recorded and 2,464 marriages were recorded. 3,137 Prague citizens went abroad, and almost 14,100 moved to other parts of the Czech Republic.
In the whole Czech Republic, Central Bohemia had the biggest increase. The total population of the Czech Republic increased to 10,588,063. The majority of immigrants entering the Czech Republic are from the Ukraine and Slovakia. The statistics of births to mortality rates showed a higher mortality than births in the Czech Republic.
From January to June of this year, 57,787 people have died but the number of immigration continues to grow to keep the total population number growing.
