Transport Ministry spokesman Tomáš Neřold has revealed that Czech Republic has the intention to join space missions Ariane and Vega of the European Space Agency (ESA).

Finance Minister Andrej Babiš (ANO) will support the financial help for the missions, and with the collaboration of Transport Minister Dan Tok (ANO), they have set the focus on the importance for the Czech Republic to take part in this prestigious programme. Czech research Institutes and companies will actively take part in the development, testing and manufacturing of Ariane 6.

The government has decided for an internal funding, with money coming from taxes, as the money spent will return to Czech economy.

These are not the only missions in which the Czech Republic will take part in: within the framework Horizon 2020 it’s also involved with the missions Galileo and Copernicus, giving its contribution to space activities half a billion crowns, which is 1.2% of the European budget.
