During the first nine months of 2016, 14.6 million tourists stayed in Czech accommodation (7.4 million Czechs and 7.1 million foreigners). That is the highest total since 2000 and 7.1 percent above the total during the same period in 2015.

There were strong rises as well in the number of visitors from China, Taiwan, and South Korea.

More than half of those tourists arrived in the country for only one day.

Revenue from tourism amounted to nearly 3% of the GDP, according to data recently released by the Czech Statistical Office.
