As reported yesterday by English newspaper Express, weapons sold by Croatia, Slovakia, Romania, Bulgaria and the Czech Republic are making their way into the hands of Islamic State (ISIS) terrorists.
AK-47s, rocket launchers and heavy machine guns are among the assault rifles being sent to Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and the UAE. But a staggering new report claims the deadly cargo is being directed to war-torn Syria to be used by ISIS jihadists and rival group the Al-Nusra Front.
Patrick Wilcken, a researcher on arms control at Amnesty International, said the lucrative trade through the Balkans pipeline is almost certainly illegal. “The evidence points towards systematic diversion of weapons to armed groups accused of committing serious human rights violations.”
