Public figures, who one way or another have had an impact on urban transport will be selected for the honor, according to Prague Transport Enterprise (DPP).

The first person to be selected is the two-time Olympic medalist in weightlifting Václav Pšenička. On Thursday, during a ceremony, a sign was placed on the tram car with his name and a list of his achievements. Before the tram is allowed to carry passengers, it must pass a 100-kilometer run-in.

The transport company plans to name 3-5 trams annually. Václav Pšenička – won silver medals at two Olympics in a row (in 1932 in Los Angeles and in 1936 in Berlin). From 1929 to 1951 he worked in the Prague company Elektrické podniky, predecessor of the Transport Company of Prague.
