It was meant to be a Smichov landmark and tourist attraction, bringing people out of the centre and exploring Prague. However, it now looks like the plan for the giant ferris wheel will not go ahead.

The City Hall of Prague 5 wanted the wheel on the left bank of the Vltava. The ferris wheel would match those of many other capital cities, such as the London eye. However, it has now come to light that the developer may not be able to handle all the requisites by November 1, which is imposed on him by a contract.

The Town Hall of Prague 5, so far has been very promising with regard to the attraction. In spite of criticism, it entrusted the project with the planned costs of 200 million to Timsbury Capital, which was established in April with a capital of 12 thousand crowns. However, its executive, Jiří Havrda, has not yet submitted to the competent authorities the documents necessary to start the project.

“According to our information, there is now no project for the Ferris wheel and especially the request for its placement anywhere in the relevant authorities is discussed. From what we know, the developer is not actively working on its location, but it should do all the things to do according to the contract by November 1 of this year,” said Pavel Richter, Mayor of Prague 5

The revitalization of the left bank of the canal has been planned for several years. In recent years, there has also been an increase in the number of events organized. But for now, the future of the wheel is unclear.
