The Papilonia House of Butterflies offers 600 exotic butterflies in the area of 150 square metres, with a temperature of 30°C, and air humidity of 80 percent to imitate their natural habitat.
Visitors can admire 40 different species of butterflies in Papilonia. Their population is constantly changing since a butterfly lives from two to four weeks.
Owner Michael Kučera anticipates: “We host around 600 butterflies from 40 countries permanently. Since it will be open year round, we will vary the species, so in the spring there will be different butterflies than in the fall.”
“Butterflies feed on nectar from seed plants and decomposing fruit. In Papilonia, we give them additional food in the form of a sugar solution,” he added.
There’s a long mirror at the exit so you can check you aren’t carrying any butterflies.
