Kafka’s house near to Old Town Square is set to become luxury apartments, replacing the current gallery space.
According to Councillor Karel Grabein Procházka, the homes will be mainly flats 3+1 and 4+1 and will cost around 50,000 per month. The Art Gallery for children GUD, which resides in the house permanently, has been given one month’s notice to leave.
The city of Prague plans to invest 100 to 120 million in restoration. The reconstruction, according to Procházka, could begin soon after Prague awards the contract for the building work.
