The Prague Municipality released a new mobile application The app will help drivers find parking spots in blue zones all over the city. The map will show available parking spots and how much they cost. Users will also be able to pay by card online through the application.

“When the driver opens the app, a map will show up, on which all parking zones will be marked as blue, purple or orange. Payment through the application will only be available in parking zones of Prague 3, 5, 6 and 8,” explains Deputy Mayor Petr Dolínek.

Drivers can find a parking spot from wherever they are situated. The application uses GPS to find the drivers’ current location.

“The driver can search the street of the destination in the app and if it is in a blue zone, he or she can pay online immediately. The application will show the prices for 30 minutes or up to a couple hours, going up by 30-minute intervals,” adds Dolínek.

When registering for the application, drivers must fill in their license plate. Multiple ones could be added if necessary. Setting up the license plate is a crucial step allowing the police to check whether the driver has paid the parking fee.

Parking can also be extended through the app. “If the drivers need more time, they can go on the app and extend their parking time in order to avoid unpleasant fines,” explains Dolínek.

The mobile application is available for iOS and Android.
