The first modernized tram model Škoda 14T, designed by brand Porsche, has been inaugurated by the Prague Company of Transportations (DPP) on Monday.
Aesthetically the new version of the tram hasn’t changed so much, just the color of the decorative panel, but inside the layout has been modified, starting with the seats, considered the weakness of the previous models.
The new tram will serve the lines 3 and 17.
This modernization costed 2.6 million CZK. DPP is going to ask the passengers to evaluate the changes, and if the reviews will be positive the rest of the other trams will face a renew too.
In 2014, all the 57 carriages of this type have been removed from the lines, due to problems to the undercarriages and cracks in the structure.
Defective trams have been sold to Russia and Ukraine, who bought them to spare money, due to the crisis.
