Prague is still looking for somewhere to put Alfons Mucha’s Slav Epic, when the images return from a tour of Asia.
In early January, the Commission recommended the City Hall space in the former railway station Těšnov, but a new site Prague 1 has been also been proposed. It would include a new pavilion project at the end of Revoluční street at Štefánikův bridge.
The proposal is to build a gold, glass, oval gallery for 184 million crowns. Architect Peter Malinský designed the proposal. The pavilion could display either the Slav Epic or the traveling exhibition of art.
According to the mayor of Prague 1 Oldrich Lomecký, the location of such important works should be decided with public debate and not just the Commission.
