The restoration work on the Old Town Hall will cost 48 million crowns and is set to begin in May of this year. Due to the work, the building will have to be covered by scaffolding.
The upper part of the tower will be restored first, then a bay window on the second floor and finally the clock will be repaired. The mayor’s office has promised that the work will be done in stages so that the only one part will be covered at a time.
The last time the building was repaired was more than 70 years ago at the end of Word War II after it was shot at and set on fire by nazi soldiers who were attacking resistors inside.
