Prague is planning on investing 250 million crowns in order to repair Old Town Marketplace. “We are preparing a proposal to renovate the market for the money of the capital, and then we would offer it to business entities,” said the councilor, who plans to submit to the Council in the near future.
The plan of the contract with a private concessionaire was approved last June by the City Council, according to Karel Grabein Procházka (ANO). The municipality already has a finished and approved reconstruction project, which would cost roughly a quarter billion crowns.
Proceedings are currently underway to obtain a territorial decision. The marketplace is located in the courtyard surrounded by the streets of 28. října, Rytířská, Perlova and Na Můstku. The ground floor of a listed building, which dates from 1894, now serves as a shopping mall.
The historic buildings have built-in shops and restaurants. As a regular visitor to the shopping center, the monument value of the marketplace will be remembered only by a decorated passage from Rytířská Street.
