According to the Airbnb application, Czech capital will be one of the world’s 10 most popular tourist destinations of 2017. Summer season 2017 will be the busiest so far.

The number of foreign tourists who make use of paid private accommodation has been increasing especially in the past two years. The number of tourists using private accommodation or applications for shared accommodation in the Czech Republic between last year January and September reached 2.2 million.

The increasing share of paid private accommodation is especially clear in the number of tourists coming from European countries such as France, Italy and Great Britain, or the United States of America. So far, the use of individual accommodation is most common in Prague.

Therefore, Prague wants to explore ways of collecting accommodation fees from these tourists in the future and the potential means of regulating this sector. For example, since last year, the landlords in Paris are required to pay tourism fees.
