Saturday signed the beginning of the exhibition at the Faculty of Arts in Charles University, marking the anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare.
Shakespeare’s life and work will be presented in all its glory, followed by the Czech version and performances of his theatrical pieces.
Martin Hilsky, who translated and adapted the masterpieces of the great English author, sees this anniversary as a sort of rebirth, and the fact that he’s still celebrated all over the world demonstrates the power and the quality of his creativity.
His works are also contributing in inspiring artists and writers in the Czech Republic and all over the world. There’s a festival dedicated to the poet and playwriter that takes place since 1994: the Summer Shakespeare Festival held at Prague Castle, in Bratislava, Brno and Ostrava.
Univerzita Karlova’s exhibition will be held until 17th of May.
