Some innovations are expected to appear in Prague public buses.

Every fourth one on every route will be equipped with a sensory passenger counter. Such modification will help to determine the utilization capacity of buses and the most loaded stops. The sensors are to be installed by the doors and will measure the number of people who get on/off at each stop. Moreover, the system will include counting prams and wheelchairs.

ROPID, the company that regulates public transport in Prague, have already run a test drive of potentially installed sensory equipment.

However, the results were not satisfying and more testing is ahead before the system will be in operation.
