The Rekola bike-sharing project, offering bike-sharing services in Czech cities, will undergo the greatest changes to date next year. The company intends to place its 750 pink bicycles out in the streets in 2017.
During 2016, the pink bicycles were borrowed more than 94,000 times, of which almost 55,000 rentals were in Prague. The new season will begin on 21 March in five Czech cities: Praha, Brno, České Budějovice, Olomouc and Teplice. Users will be able to choose between a yearly tariff of CZK 1,199 and a one-off payment.
Rekola was established in 2013. Unlike most bike sharing systems Rekola does not use fixed stations for the bikes, instead the bikes can be left or picked up from anywhere using a mobile application to locate the nearest bike and unlock it with a code received through the app.
