Several metro station entrances will close over the following months and year. The closures, directed by DPP, are in order to fix the escalators at the entrances.
The entrances at both Karlovo Námestí and Náměstí Republiky will close in the following months.
The entrance at Karlovo Námestí will close in October, and the metro station will only be accessible from Palackého náměstí. All three escalators will be fixed at Karlovo Náměstí. The entrance will close from October of this year until July of 2018.
In December, they will shut down one of the entrances at Náměstí Republiky. In all, the work at Náměstí Republiky should end by July 2018. The metro at Náměstí Republiky will be accessible from Masarykovo nádraží.
The entrance to the B-line at Anděl metro station will also close for escalator repairs. The station, however, will be accessible from Na Knížecí. The Anděl closure dates are still unknown, although, they will be around April 2018.
These closures will, of course, make life inconvenient. However, you may have noticed all of the closed escalators around Prague’s metro stations. Hopefully, this problem is resolved shortly. Actions like this disrupt daily life, but have to happen periodically in order to maintain the system.
