People in Prague are happier and live better lives, according to new research.

The capital city scored well for work opportunities and for having the highest salaries in the whole of the Czech Republic. Prague also offers a large number of associations, foundations, civic and charitable organizations.

The capital city also has negative aspects. Compared to other regions there is a higher crime rate, fewer green areas and poorer air quality.

In second place we find Pardubice Region, which compared to last year improved a lot. It is well evaluated in job opportunities, safe roads and has the lowest crime rate in the whole country. Its major weaknesses are the infrastructure, education systems, childcare and leisure activities.

The research was carried out by Datank and conducted among 1,400 residents of all regions in the country. Counties were assessed by ecology, environment, education, health, child care, tourism, leisure activities, purchasing power, working conditions, infrastructure development, security and tolerance.
