Some more updates of Prague tram system will soon take place. The administration has just approved a series of alterations, starting from the 28th of August.
Apart from adding more trams on the most popular routes, there will be 3 new and 9 old, but transformed directions. Since the opening of Petřiny metro, the flow of people using overground public transport to get to the district has reduced, that made it possible to cut the number of trams on the route. The need of the forthcoming changes emerged due to the increasing number of paid parking zones and for ecological reasons.
All in all, there will be 24 functioning tram routes. The alterations will be made on the following routes: 4, 5, 6, 12, 14, 18, 20, 24, 25.
The added routes will be: 2, 15, 21
